My name is Laurie Barton. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from San Diego State University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Marymount University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia.

I have been is private practice for 10 years. I have experience helping people with a wide variety of life issues including; anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, veteran and military concerns as well ADHD. As a responsible and ethical counselor, I only practice within the scope of my experience and training. If I believe that you could benefit from a treatment I do not provide, I will assist you in finding someone who can help you.

I believe strongly in the relationship between the counselor and client. It is my intent to create a nurturing environment in which therapeutic growth may be accomplished. My approach is integrative in nature, as I believe that different people need different approaches I help clients clients gain self awareness and assist them in making desired change.

As a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), I accept and practice in conformity with this organization’s codified ethical standards, as well as the code of ethics put forth by the Virginia State Licensing Board. In additions, I am certified by and a member of EMDRIA, (EMDR International Association
